Fancy Garnet and Rose-cut Diamond Bangle c1870

Fancy Garnet and Rose-cut Diamond Bangle c1870

Alluring at every turn, this incredible piece from around 1870 impresses with every fine detail! From its uniquely cut garnets to its elaborate engravings to its bold scale, this bangle is a testament to to finest designs and craftsmanship of the Victorian era. Twenty-seven sizable garnets are each bezel-set and elevated with prongs. The centermost garnet is cabochon-cut and set into a buttercup mounting, while the rest are unusually rose-cut, giving the bangle a bespoke charm. Eighty-four rose-cut diamonds elegantly border the garnets above and below in slightly slanted rows that create smooth, scalloped edges culminating in a round dome accentuating the center of the bangle. They total a carat weight of about 1.68 and boast near colorless G-H color grades and VS-SI clarity grades. While the front of this bangle is all sparkle, the rest of the bangle is elaborately adorned with engravings that cover the polished rose gold. The bangle opens on a hinge at one end and secures with a tongue-in-groove click-in clasp at the other. A safety chain ensures the bangle will not fall off the wrist when undone. The bangle has a 7 inch inner circumference and measures between 1/2 inch and 1 3/8 inches wide.
