Agate is a type of quartz, and there are many, many types of agate. The Victorians loved it, and so do we! This striking necklace, dating to the Victorian era, features a large cross adorned with 7 Scottish bull's eye banded agate stones, expertly-cut to display the black of the stone on top and its white stripe along the border. The cross has a matte finish and it is rendered in pinchbeck, a incomparable alloy made to look and wear just like gold and very standard of the time. The curb-link chain is gold-plated, and added later on.
