Turquoise Flower Necklace c1890
Fantasy's flower: a wild turquoise rose. Made around 1890 in the midst of the ethereal, nature-inspired Art Nouveau aesthetic movement, this gorgeous piece seems to depict a romantic wild rose in an impossible hue, giving it an aura of fantasy. Persian Turquoise stones are pavé-set across the flower petals, likely all originally a uniform sky blue, and now varying in darkness with some taking on a green hue as they age. At the center of the open bloom sits a rare natural pearl, softening the piece with its silky lustre. While the 14k chain was likely added or changed in the 1930s, the attached pendant was handmade in 15k gold around 1890. It measures 1 inch wide and 1 7/8 inches long and the necklace is 18 1/2 inches long in total.
