Victorian Enamel Memorial Heart Earrings

Victorian Enamel Memorial Heart Earrings

Forget-me-not flowers and beautifully braided locks of hair– these earrings were made for the memory of a loved one! Hairwork jewelry was most common in the Victorian era, though it certainly was prevalent for centuries. Hair is a part of us that remains intact for thousands of years, making it favorable to use as a love token as well as a memorial. True blue guilloché enamel indicates that these earrings were made for a loved one in a time of separation, as opposed to death, which is typically symbolized by the color black. Sixteen rose-cut diamonds sparkle like dew drops in the petals and leaves of the lovely silver forget-me-nots. The memorial lockets in the back are sealed with glass and all is set into 14k yellow gold, allowing the blue enamel to truly shine. The heart drops are about 5/8 inch at their widest points and about 3/8 inch thick. The drop measures about an inch from the top studs to the bottom of each heart. The earring backs are currently screw-on, and likely not original to the heart drops. We are happy to convert them to posts for pierced ears upon request.
