1.45 Carat Marquise Cut Diamond Ring c1950

1.45 Carat Marquise Cut Diamond Ring c1950

Marquise cut diamonds date back to the 18th century when King Louis XV of France commissioned the court jeweler to design a cut resembling his mistress's lips. It later became a symbol of the marquise status in the royal court. Today, with its 58 glittering facets, its long feminine shape, and grand appearance, the marquise cut stands out as a unique diamond engagement ring. At the same time, its unusual shape makes this ring double as a beautifully streamlined cocktail ring. The diamond is substantial, weighing in at 1.45 carats, and has a near colorless G grade and SI2 clarity grade, certified by EGL USA. Tapered baguette cut diamonds flank the marquise on either side, framing it perfectly. They weigh a total carat weight of about .24, are a G color, and VS clarity. The ring's classic, minimal design speaks to the mid-century era when it was handmade in platinum. It is currently a size 4 1/4 and may be easily resized up or down upon request.
