1850s-60s Rose Cut Diamond Cluster Ring

1850s-60s Rose Cut Diamond Cluster Ring

Rose cut diamonds are the "candlelight" cut. They have a beautiful, watery sparkle that our artificial lights just can not capture! These date back to the 1850s or so and shine best is the natural daylight and candlelit spaces they were made to live in. They are set with foiled backs, which was common at the time to add extra brilliance. However, these foiled backs age and tarnish over time, and are impossible to restore. Most of the 'flaws' you may see in the photos are actually part of the metal that is backing the diamonds. In person, they are hard to notice behind the beauty of these organically beautiful stones. We estimate that there are about 2 carats in total weight of diamonds. The top is original, and made of 10k white gold, while the shank is 14k and most likely added in the early 20th century. It is currently a size 6 and may be resized up or down upon request.
