Victorian Taille d'Epargne Buckle
Taille d'epargne, or black enamel tracery, is a process favored in the mid 19th century where deep engravings are filled with (usually black) enamel to create artfully bold designs in jewelry and accessories. Made in the 1850s, this intricately adorned buckle is among the finer examples of taille d'epargne enamel we've seen! A captivating Etruscan design utilizes varying textures in addition to the high contrast effect of the shadowy enamel to give the piece dynamic dimension and detail. The result is an absolute work of art!
