Los Ballesteros Taxco Sterling & Turquoise Cuff c1950
Generations of silversmithing define the fine craftsmanship behind the highly coveted designs of Los Ballesteros. This gorgeous example, made in the distinctive Taxco aesthetic that emerged in the mid-20th century, features a beautifully aged green turquoise cabochon stone bezel-set at its center. Scrolling flourishes and palm leaf motifs are carved in relief on either side of the stone. The deep carving that delineates the design has taken on a gorgeous dark patina that beautifully highlights the bright silver patterns, adding dynamic dimension to the cuff. Made in the 1950s in sterling silver, this bangle was part of the family's expansion as they opened shops beyond Taxco and throughout Mexico to meet the growing demand for their beautifully crafted pieces. This cuff is as collectable as ever and remains increasingly alluring with its fine patina and intriguingly aged Turquoise stone!
