Gold Cannetille Bracelet c1860
Cannetille is a process of using thin gold wire to create designs and shapes similar to filigree work, though more three dimensional and varied. It was a creative way to make bold, rich looking pieces of jewelry with limited amounts of gold in the late Georgian and early Victorian eras. The process creates unique, intricate textures as exemplified in this stunning bracelet from the Etruscan Revival of the 1850s and 60s! Handcrafted in bright 14k yellow gold, this bracelet utilizes small, flattened beads clustered into flower and marquis shapes to create an elaborate woven pattern. Though very flat, the bracelet has a bold look measuring around an inch wide and 6 1/4 inches long. The secure clasp is a screw-in pin.
