Handmade Bangle c1890
The Victorians were experts in perfectly balancing exquisite details and simple forms, as exemplified in this beautiful bangle! This lovely piece was handmade in 16k gold around 1890. Impeccable engravings add texture and character to the otherwise basic square edged bangle. A single flower, perhaps a forget-me-not, sits in the center of the piece and is surrounded by stunning framing and patterns. Its patina, built up over a century, truly allows the engraving to stand out sharply, filling in the grooves with a shadowy contrast. This bracelet is in excellent condition on the outside, though the inside is quite dented and can not be remedied– it does not affect the integrity or functionality of the piece. The bangle is 6 inches around, fitting a small wrist, and is about 3/8 inch wide.
