Louis Armand Rault for Boucheron Music Bracelet c1900
Louis Armand Rault is largely considered the finest gold and silver chaser and medalist of his time. Though this incredible piece of art does not bare his hallmark, it has all of the telltale signs of his fine craftsmanship and design. He worked primarily for the renowned House of Boucheron in Paris, particularly from 1868 to 1875. This piece likely came from that time, or perhaps since it was dedicated in 1905, it was reproduced by Boucheron at the turn of the century. The handmade 18k gold bracelet is exquisitely carved on the center panel with a romantic scene of a lute-playing muse accompanied by a cherub with a tambourine and another with a horn. Each additional panel is sculpturally carved with various floral and scroll designs and separated with alternating rose and daisy links. As if the elaborate carvings weren't charming enough, the dedication really brings it home– sheet music is etched on the inside! The music holds special significance between the giver and recipient, a special song just between them. Below the music is the date of dedication, "30 Mars 1905". This bracelet is a truly remarkable piece of jewelry that stands out as a masterpiece– we have seen none like it and are privileged to have it in our collection! Its box lock is well hidden and makes it appear endless. It clicks in securely and is reinforced by a safety chain. The bracelet measures 7 1/2 inches around, fitting an average to larger sized wrist. The center panel is just over 5/8 inch at its widest point and the other links are just under 1/2 inch wide.
