1940s Old Pawn Wide Silver Turquoise Cuff

1940s Old Pawn Wide Silver Turquoise Cuff

"Old Pawn" sterling silver is always dated pre-1970 and is almost never signed. These pieces were often pawned by Native Americans in exchange for seed money, and after harvest they would return to reclaim their jewelry. These kinds of jewels vary in their silver purity, and were often constructed of recycled materials. Oftentimes they are 90% silver, due to the melting of coins to facilitate their creation. This exemplary cuff is made with Old Pawn silver, centering an oval-cut turquoise. It boasts a beautiful blue-green hue due to its natural aging process. The cuff is heavily stamped with traditional Native American designs, making for a high-quality accessory that captures the history of the Southwest!
