Victorian Revival Opal & Onyx Pin Pendant c1930

Victorian Revival Opal & Onyx Pin Pendant c1930

A vibrant opal gem glows atop a deep black onyx and delightful gold filigree in this Victorian Revival pendant brooch from the 1930s! This vintage beauty was made sometime in the 1930s in strong 14 karat yellow gold, taking inspiration from Victorian-era jewels. The captivating cabochon-cut natural opal displays the entire color spectrum, its translucence playing with light and dimension against a dark backdrop crafted from a gleaming onyx disk. This centerpiece is framed by highly-ornate scrollwork that surround the onyx in two rows. Rope detailing in the outermost ring of scrolls adds dynamic texture and a scalloped edge. One of the best attributes of this piece is its versatility, as this gorgeous brooch doubles as an elegantly-elaborate pendant!
