This lovely pair is one of the more history-rich pieces we currently have in our shop. The drops were made sometime before 1850 in pinchbeck. Pinchbeck is an alloy that was used in the 18th and early 19th centuries to replace gold. It was often used to replicate fine pieces for traveling by carriage on thief-ridden roads. The tops are made of 14k gold and must have been added later in the Victorian period. They would make a unique statement worn casually or dressed up! They hang just over an inch and a half long.
