c1890 Diamond and Pearl Lavaliere Pendant
This stunning lavaliere pendant exudes romance! The lavaliere style pendant was made popular and named for the Duchesse de la Vallière, a mistress of Louis XIV of France, and refers to a drop pendant. Today we refer specifically to the filigreed Art Nouveau style drop pendants we see from the late Victorian and early Edwardian periods. They are beautiful in their petite size and intricate, delicate detailing, and this one is no exception. This one features a brilliant old mine cut diamond that has a carat weight of about .10. Natural seed pearls delicately line the edges of the heart-like curved design. A lustrous dog tooth pearl drops from the bottom, elongating and perfectly balancing the piece. It is set in 10k yellow gold and measures about 1 3/4 inches long and just over 1/2 inch at its widest. The chain is not included, please inquire about our many options.
