c1890 Old European Diamond Lavaliere Necklace
A lavaliere makes the loveliest pendant! The style was made popular and named for the Duchesse de la Vallière, a mistress of Louis XIV of France, and refers to a drop pendant. Today we refer specifically to the filigreed Art Nouveau style drop pendants we see from the late Victorian and early Edwardian periods. They are beautiful in their petite size and intricate, delicate detailing, and this one is no exception. What makes this one special is the absolutely stunning diamond that hangs freely in the center, giving it a bit of movement that adds to its already brilliant sparkle. It is an old european cut, has a carat weight of about .14, a near colorless H-I grade, and a fine VS clarity grade. Nine natural seed pearls accent the pendant perfectly. It is made of 10k gold and measures 1 5/8 inches from the top of the bale to bottom of the drop, and 5/8 inch at its widest point. Chain is not included, but we have many to choose from, please inquire!
