A modernist work of art– this incredible pendant may very well be one-of-a-kind! Henry Steig was a well-established New York City jeweler who handmade his pieces from start to finish and refused to relinquish complete control over the making of his jewelry. This piece was certainly made in the 1950s, when he was most prolific. In the less common occasion that he used a gemstone, he would design the piece around the stone, which he would handpick for its unique qualities. Here he has chosen a moss agate– a unique stone indeed! Moss agate is what is sounds like, a clear agate stone in which moss was included in its natural formation. It is a dreamy stone, and clearly a piece of the very heart of a forest. The silver-work is sculptural and abstract, yet naturally flows– a signature of Steig's craftsmanship. It seamlessly flows from round to flat  as it loops around the front and back of the exquisite stone.  The pendant makes a statement with its scale, measuring about 1 1/2 inches wide and 2 3/4 inches tall. The heavy double-curb-link chain is 18 inches long.
