Pearl Necklace with Diamond Pendant c1900
This Edwardian-era necklace exudes elegant, graceful romance with its soft lustrous pearls and sparkling diamonds! Made around 1900, the natural pearl strand is finely knotted between each pearl and subtly graduated. The oval wreath pendant is set with around 1 carat in total weight of old European cut diamonds in platinum atop 14k gold throughout. A single natural pearl hangs from its center, freely dangling, adding gentle movement to this refined beauty.
The pearl necklace and pendant are all original to around 1900, though the platinum clasp and safety chain were likely added around 1930. The clasp features a .03 carat full cut diamond graded near colorless G grade and VS clarity grade. The diamonds throughout the pendant are mixed G-J color grades and VS-SI clarity grades, all old European cuts totaling about 1 carat. The pearl strand measures about 20 1/2 inches long (though wears more like an 18 inch necklace) and its pearls measure about 1.5 to 2.5 millimeters. The pendant measures about 1 1/8 inch long and 5/8 inch wide.
