Schreiner Crystal Statement Necklace c1950
We turn to costume for some of the most glamorous, over-the-top looks! Big, bold, gemmy Schreiner designs were all the rage in the 1950s. Primarily produced right here in New York City and France for elite fashion houses, Schreiner Jewelry was so consistently featured on the cover and pages of Vogue that they never needed to do their own marketing! Fine Czech glass stones of unusual cuts, color combinations, and settings make Schreiner pieces distinctive and highly desirable to this day. This midcentury necklace is exemplary of their exceptional quality. The largest stone is an art givre crystal, characterized by a duality in color. The round and oval stones throughout the piece are also art givre. Marquise stones perfectly balance the piece with their uniquely dark, iridescent quality. This exquisite piece, made with as much attention to detail as most fine jewelry, was crafted in France. It is likely a custom piece, made for the runway, and may be one-of-a-kind! The necklace is adjustable between 15 and 17 inches long. The centerpiece is about 2 1/2 inches long.
