Victorian Lyre Harp Necklace With Enameled Heart
This necklace was made during the Victorian era circa 1900s in 14 karat gold with a rose undertone, featuring a heart-shaped pansy pendant which hangs from a lyre harp, suspended from an equally-romantic and ornate chain. The heart-shaped pansy pendant is decorated with an array of purple hues through fine enamel work, and a small seed pearl at the center, with its lustre glistening like dew. The lyre harp is enhanced with more seed pearls, a bright-green demantoid garnet and a rich padparadscha sapphire, and it hangs from its original chain depicting lucky clovers, padlocks and delicate spacers — it is stunning in all of its fine details! This necklace is also imbued with symbolism, as Apollo was the mythological god of music and dance, and his stringed lyre represents not just humanity's artistic sensibilities, but also wisdom, harmony, and and all that was rational in ancient Greece. The necklace is stamped with French hallmarks by the spring clasp.
- Pendant measurements: 2 and 1/4 inches long by 1 inch wide.
- 20 inch split-chain (10 inches on each side) — original chain.
This elaborate necklace has been thoroughly loved, and it shows some signs of wear (the stones have a small chip), but it does not take away from its overall beauty. Serenade eternity with this sweet antique necklace — make it yours today!
