Cannetille Floral Pendant c1860
Cannetille is a process of using thin gold wire to create designs and shapes similar to filigree work, though often more three dimensional and varied. It was a creative way to make bold, rich looking pieces of jewelry with limited amounts of gold in the late Georgian and early Victorian eras. The process creates unique, intricate textures as exemplified in this stunning pendant from the 1850s or 60s. Handcrafted in bright 20k yellow gold, this pendant is exemplary of the fine craftsmanship cannetille work is known for– a bold, elaborate design with airy filigree-like details. The pendant measures about 2 3/4 inches long by 1 1/8 inches wide. The chain is not included, though many are available here, and many more in our shop, please inquire!
