Art Deco Kozibe Diamond Bracelet with Emeralds c1920

Art Deco Kozibe Diamond Bracelet with Emeralds c1920

An Art Deco masterpiece! Every detail in this bracelet is absolutely breathtaking on its own– from the rare cut of its central diamond, to the gorgeous flourishes carved in its setting, to the glowing green emeralds cut exclusively to fit, and the dazzling diamond studded links that wrap all the way around– the sum of its parts is nothing short of magnificent!

After taking it all in, your eye may settle on its centerpiece: a stunning 2.30 carat old European cut diamond that boasts a rare 'kozibe' effect! Round brilliant diamonds cut before 1930 do not come to a perfect point at their bottom like modern stones. Instead, a tiny facet called a culet marks the bottom point of the diamond, resulting in what appears to be a small octagonal shaped window at its center. What is rare about this particular diamond is that it was cut with such precision and artistry that the culet reflects in every one of its top facets, creating a radiant, kaleidoscopic ring of reflected culets around its entire crown. This is the rare and sought after kozibe effect, perfectly proportioned to sparkle like no other!

Colombian emeralds are calibrated to perfectly fill arches that border the spectacular center stone above and below while glittering diamonds are inlaid throughout the bracelet's every surface. Handmade in platinum, the metal is beautifully carved to delineate fancy flourishes and curving shapes filled with diamonds and outlined with delicate milgrain beading. The elegant shapes on either side of the diamond evoke pairs of leaves on a single stem, embracing the center diamond like a flower. The paired shape is repeated as if rippling out from the center, each nestled into the next, and each a link in the bracelet that is gradually smaller until the smallest reaches the clasp.

This magnificent Art Deco bracelet is set with over six carats of diamonds, including its rare Kozibe effect center stone. Its unique safety chain was likely a later addition custom-made for someone who treasured it. Safety chains were common around the clasp of bracelets to ensure the bracelet would not fall off should it come undone, however this one is cleverly threaded all around, protecting the bracelet in the unlikely event that a link breaks.

Indeed, this diamond bracelet is a masterpiece worthy of coveting– from cut to polish, its artistry is beyond exquisite at every level!
