Georgian Cross Patoncé Gold Chain

Georgian Cross Patoncé Gold Chain

Satiny gold links are adorned with an alternating pattern of the cross patoncé and eight pointed stars in this gorgeous Georgian-era chain! Designed to lie flat around the neck, this chain has a distinctive front and back, draping beautifully with the stars and crosses on full display while the links around the back grace skin and clothing with a silky smooth touch. Each of the star-kissed links is crafted with two oval shaped rings soldered together along one of their long edges at the back while their top edges open like a clamshell with the star sitting atop and filling the open space. The patoncé cross links are similarly constructed, the two oval rings soldered together at the back, though this time stacked with a duplicate and soldered where their top edges meet so that four rings create a wider, almost barrel shaped link that the cross lays across. Each ring is softly ridged, giving the piece a fine texture that maintains the glowing gleam of the gold while the finish appears matte and allows the adornments and details to shine! Though beautiful all on its own, the chain's large spring ring clasp is perfect for adding pendants and charms. This exquisite relic was made around two centuries ago, between 1820-40 and is every bit as divine today as it was then!
