Antique Love Token Bracelet
Names of loved ones are beautifully hand-engraved atop historic seated liberty half dime coins from the 19th century and coins going into the 1940s. The practice of engraving coins to keep as mementos for special events, milestones, or beloved people was prevalent in late Victorian era as it was often more accessible than having jewelry made. Often times family members would even engrave the coins themselves! Many of the love tokens featured on this bracelet were likely done by a professional judging by the fine type and embellishments as well as some of them being double sided, while a heart-shaped charm appears hand-cut by a child! The visible silver seated liberty coin dates to 1877 while two liberty heads date to 1945 and 1941. The bracelet dates to around 1880, making it quite likely that the coins were added by an elder in the late Victorian era and a descendant in the 1940s!
- The bracelet adjusts to two sizes: about 6 1/4 inches and 6 3/4 inches. Measures 3/8 inch wide while the tokens measure around 3/4 inch in diameter.
