Persian Turquoise Locket Pendant Brooch c1870
Stunning bright blue Persian turquoise stands out beautifully against rich, handmade 22k yellow gold in this impeccably detailed pendant brooch from around 1870! Each turquoise is calibrated to create a perfect ring around a buttercup prong-set mabé pearl at the center of the piece. This centerpiece is bordered by beads of gold, then a ring of a scalloped pattern, which in turn is bordered by the largest ring– a recessed pattern of waves and tulips. Unlike much of the exquisitely detailed jewelry of this time period, these patterns are raised against the matte gold instead of carved or etched into. This gives the piece a more ancient, old world charm in line with the Etruscan revival aesthetic.
This piece includes both a bale for wear as a pendant and a 14k pinback for wear as a brooch. It includes its original frame underneath, meant to hold a photo or small keepsakes with a thin piece of glass or acrylic (not included). The pendant/brooch has a diameter of about 1 1/4 inch and is 2 inches long with its bale and decorative accents above and below. The chain is not included but may be found here. We have many other options here and in our necklaces collection, as well as more in our shop, please inquire!
