Hamilton 'Piping Rock' Wristwatch c1930
Among the most famous watches Hamilton ever made, the 'Piping Rock' is distinct for its enamel bezel and gold numerals featured not on its dial, but its bezel. Set in 14k yellow gold, the Piping Rock was also the first to utilize Hamilton's 19 jewel 979 movement. Around 1928 when this watch was made, Hamilton was the most highly regarded American watchmaker in the world, and their timepieces remain among the most collectable to this day. This remarkable timepiece was dedicated in 1930 with an elaborate engraving on the back of the case that reads "Ernie from Joe March 27, 1930". The dial measures about 21 millimeters while the case is 29 millimeters by 43 millimeters including the hinged lugs which accommodate a 16mm strap. The strap fits a 6 1/4 to 8 inch wrist and may be replaced upon request. The case is about 9 millimeters at its thickest.
