Antique Old Mine Diamond Solitaire c1877
The most iconic engagement ring design is, hands-down, a diamond solitaire. Many gravitate towards the style for its iconic, traditional appeal, and yet truly desire something as special as the love the ring is meant to represent. This rare antique beauty is ideal for precisely this very reason! A cushiony old mine diamond is elevated above a beautifully detailed rich gold setting in this uncommon Victorian solitaire. Dating to 1877, this captivating, handmade ring sets its diamond in six prongs that rise from a subtle buttercup mounting and grasp its girdle. Alternating enameled prongs curl in around its base, securing the diamond with exquisite precision while allowing light to openly flow through the elevated stone. The result is a fiery display of brilliance that is beautifully accentuated by the deeply carved, reflective details in the elegantly tapered, flat, satiny gold band. This ring is inscribed with the date 'July 4th, 1877' on one side of the inner band, and 'G. W. D. to M. J. P' on the other. Nearly 150 years of celebrating love with many more to come!
