Shield-Cut Smoky Quartz Cocktail Ring c1960
A gorgeous, uniquely cut gem and a fabulously ornate setting come together to create this stand-out cocktail ring! This mid-century treasure is defined by its uncommon shield-shaped, flat-top smoky quartz gemstone. Crafted in the late 1950s or 1960s, the vitreous gem glistens in a bold, beautifully detailed maximalist setting. Ropes border the stone and comprise the band as three come together to form the shank. Three seed pearls adorn the top and bottom of the ring, softening each of the gem's pointed ends with their sensual lustre. Dramatic flourishes bloom from each of the ring's crescent moon shoulders, elegantly curving up and down the sides of the ring and creating the finest gold frame for the gem. This ring has all the glamour you'd expect in a statement ring, though the smoky quartz's neutral, earthy tone offers a subtlety and ease of wear uncommon in cocktail rings!
