Mid-Century Colorless Cushion-Cut Diamond Ring
Antique hand-cut diamonds are as unique as glittering snowflakes – their subtle differences make each one inherently one-of-a-kind by its very nature. Even still, some do stand out above the rest as markedly distinct. This captivating cushion-cut diamond does just that with its unique faceting, magnificently defying classification. This unusual stone can best be described as a cushion brilliant: a former square shaped old mine later recut to approach the proportions and faceting pattern of the modern brilliant cut. Its rare faceted girdle adds to its vivid, fiery brilliance, amplifying even the dimmest light with a playful sparkle. Colorless and super clean, the diamond benefits from its bright handmade platinum setting, which allows it to maintain its pure sparkle. It is elevated in four fishtail prongs that accentuate its square shape and inner geometry. Three small round brilliant diamonds are set on either shoulder, each set in a distinct delineated shape that flows into the next. The pattern is asymmetrical and yet perfectly balanced, a signature aesthetic of the time period.
