Ancient Egyptian Scarab Pendant
Inventory# B0505-320
Hands down, the oldest piece of jewelry we have in the shop, perhaps have ever had. This scarab dates back to the 6th or 7th centuries B.C! Almost certainly, it was worn by a mummy, whose name is written in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs in the cartouche (oval with inscriptions inside). The other hieroglyphs form a prayer from the Egyptian Book of the Dead. The stone is carved from steatite and set in silver, shown here on a chain that is sold separately. We have a collection of silver chains to choose from in many lengths and styles. Pendant measures 1 inch long.
