Antique .60 Carat Diamond in Midcentury Platinum Ring
Modern meets antique in this midcentury diamond ring! This classic style engagement ring marries an early Victorian old mine cut with a 1950s handmade platinum setting. The uniquely cut stone adds character to the otherwise simple ring. Old mine cut diamonds were cut directly in the mine, close to their natural shape, and are each quite different from the next. This one is very cushion-like, and its bottom point, a facet unique to antique stones known as a "culet", is a bit off center. What makes this one special, and allows it to go with its setting perfectly, is that is has a very high colorless F grade! Most antique diamonds were mined very close to the surface of the earth and exposed to more radiation. This gives them more color, and makes a colorless diamond very rare! It is also very clean, with an SI1 clarity grade. High grade baguette cut diamonds flank the center stone on either side, perfectly contrasting the kaleidoscopic diamond with clean lines and matching its colorless property. The ring is currently a size 5 1/4 and may easily be resized up or down upon request.
