Antique Star Marquise Cut Diamond Ring c1950
This may just be the most exciting diamond we've ever had in our shop! This 19th century marquise-cut diamond has a STAR CULET! For those not as nerdy about diamonds as we are: a culet is a facet on the very bottom tip of a diamond, exclusively found on antique stones. If you look straight into this diamond, you will see that its culet is shaped like a four-pointed star! Marquise-cut diamonds tend to have a flaw known as the 'bowtie effect'– a darkness in the center of the diamond caused by its proportions. This spectacular 1.26 carat stone mitigates that effect with its stunning star, making this marquise among the most brilliant we've come across, and certainly the most distinctive! It boasts a high VS1 clarity grade and a near colorless I-J color grade– certified by EGL USA. This dreamy diamond is set in a classic 1950s handmade platinum solitaire mounting. Its simplicity appropriately allows the diamond to get all of the attention! The ring is currently a size 5 1/2 and may be resized up or down upon request.
