Old European Diamond Belcher Ring c1900
Handmade and carved to perfection, this distinct antique diamond ring is known as a 'belcher' and was most popular in the late 19th century. The bold style is defined by its unique prongs, which were created by carving directly into what began as a flush mounting. This maintains the security and low profile of a flush setting while allowing more light to flow through the fiery diamond, giving it a more robust brilliance in a rich, bold gold setting. Between the prongs are deeply carved round valleys, beautifully polished and gleaming. They resemble petals of a flower, evoking a sweet buttercup that perfectly frames the stunning old European cut diamond that dazzles at its center!
