Five black clovers form a wreath likely made to signify mourning. In the Victorian era black clovers were often depicted in mourning jewelry. Their three petals are said to have represented the Holy Trinity. This beautiful example was made in 14k yellow gold around 1900. The black enameling has a soft matte finish that adds a delicate touch. The brooch measures 1 inch in diameter. We are happy to add a bale and/or remove the pinback if wearing it as a pendant is desired.
