Nothing quite says 1970 like the distinctive brutalist style! Brutalist design is characterized by textures and designs heavily inspired by the rougher parts of our natural world, like tree bark or cliff faces. Shapes are organic and asymmetrical, often with jagged edges. These emerald earrings are a truly fine example. Each earring shows off a stunning cabochon cut emerald weighing about 5 carats. They are surrounded by pairs of round diamonds and triangular shapes that are roughly textured, each brightening the piece in 18k gold. The diamonds are all single cut, weighing a total of half a carat. The earrings measure about 7/8 inch by 3/4 inch at their widest points. They were certainly originally clip-on earrings and had a stud added for an omega style backing. We can remove the stud upon request.
