Georgian Rose-cut Diamond Ring c1800
A fancy light brown rose-cut diamond glistens at the center of a royal blue enamel halo in this historied gold ring from the 18th Century! The fiery stone is set in a silvery white bezel and backed with foil, a common practice of the era meant to enhance its brilliance. Its contrast highlights the diamond's alluring color, balancing it with the more colorless old-mine cut diamonds that are flush-set in the warm yellow gold shoulders. The six side stones are set in trefoil shaped triplets, softly tapering the design as they meet the band's carved arrow-channel sides. Well over 200 years old, this antique ring is in incredible condition, and remains an absolute treasure. Its true blue enamel is still intact and its foil is unspoiled- a rarity among antique foiled gems!
