Art Nouveau Diamond Brooch c1890
Art Nouveau's distinct ‘whiplash’ curves and naturalistic shapes define this stunning diamond brooch dating to around 1890! A fiery antique brilliant diamond sparkles at the center, bezel-set with a simple polished silver halo encircling it as the brooch's delicate curving lines surround it like a delicate, symmetrical smoke. Set in gold and topped with silver, the brooch has developed an alluring dark patina, highlighting its artfully carved details. Its sensual lines beautifully flow thin and widen to give way to softened corners where rose-cut diamonds twinkle in captivating contrast to the deep patina. The diamond-studded shapes are beautifully complemented with open cut-outs that give the brooch a light, airy quality. A dangling diamond dances at its bottom point, completing this beautiful piece with glittering movement!
