c1860 4.30ct Old Mine Cut Diamond Butterfly Brooch
This butterfly nearly flutters with the intense glitter of diamonds! This rare brooch was handmade around 1860 in a combination of mostly silver and 14k rose gold. The old mine cut diamonds that are perfectly arranged in varying sizes have the most beautiful fire about them. They total a carat weight of about 4.30, boast a near colorless grade range of G-H, and range in clarity grades SI-VS. The silver has an incredible rainbow patina that we were unwilling to polish out, but it may be polished to a high white shine if requested. The safety for the pin was added around 1910. It is in excellent condition, though the pin has been bent over time to curve over the back of the brooch. We can convert it to a pendant if desired. Measures 1 inch x 1 5/8 inches.
