Incredible in every way, this has got to be the ultimate piece of scarab jewelry! The hardest thing to believe is its age, it feels like such a bold, modern design, but it dates back over a century to around 1890! Handmade in 18k gold, it has a matte finish that lets its centerpiece stand out beautifully. What a centerpiece it is-- a rare turquoise from the depleted sleeping beauty mine! Sleeping beauty turquoise is the most sought-after type of turquoise, with its perfect robin's egg blue color and golden matrix. It is now almost exclusively found in vintage jewelry. Six old mine cut diamonds adorn the scarab's head, totaling about 1/4 carat. The eyes are fine rubies. Measures 2 1/2 inches in length, and 1 1/2 inches at its widest. Safety was added in the 20th century.
