c1900 Emerald and Diamond Silver Snake Brooch

c1900 Emerald and Diamond Silver Snake Brooch

Serpentine splendor! Ever symbolic, the snake is a lasting favorite among Victorian motifs. Queen Victoria's own wedding ring was perhaps inspiration for this brooch, as it was a snake with an emerald in its head– a romantic symbol of eternity! This stunning antique snake brooch is among the prettiest we've come across for its ultra clean, glittering rose cut diamonds and luminescent green emeralds! Around one carat of rose cut diamonds are set in an alternating pattern with the emeralds. The silver setting has a gorgeous patina and is beautifully sculpted, complete with carved sides that add to the snake's figural beauty. Ruby cabochon eyes perfectly complete the piece. The brooch measures about  1 1/4 inches by 1 inch and is about 1/4 inch at its thickest.
