Fine Opal and Diamond Brooch c1880

Fine Opal and Diamond Brooch c1880

An iridescent, glowing galaxy surrounded by rings of brilliant stars! This awe-striking brooch features the finest gemstones of the era: a seven to eight carat opal at the center of around 4 carats of colorless old mine cut diamonds! Lovingly handmade between the 1870s and 1880s, this stunning piece layers 14k yellow gold with white gold and silver. The yellow gold adds a rich warmth to the mesmerizing opal while the white gold and silver accentuate the colorlessness of the radiant diamonds. The opal boasts flashes of neon green and fiery orange against a moonstone-blue background, shifting to rosy hues as it moves through the light. Its beauty is matched only by the diamonds, whose kaleidoscopic sparkle is brilliant enough to be admired lightyears away! Whether worn as a brooch as designed, or converted to a pendant with an added bale, this divine piece is certain to be an eye-catching centerpiece!
