Georgian Memorial Hair Pin

Georgian Memorial Hair Pin

Victorian memorial jewelry is arguably among the most enjoyable to collect for antique jewelry lovers who enjoy knowing the history of their pieces. This sweet little pin is in memoriam of Sarah Harford, who died on August 4th of 1821 at 29 years old, as is engraved on the back of the pin. The beautifully braided lock of hair encased in glass surely belonged to her, and was certainly treasured by someone who cared for her for many years after. In this way, she will never be forgotten! The encased braid is bordered by black enamel, a symbol of mourning, and encased in 14k yellow gold. It is a small token, measuring just 1 inch by 5/8 inch. It hangs beautifully from a chain and can easily be worn as a necklace.
