Old Mine-Cut Diamond & Lapis Bombé Ring
You'll be seeing stars every time you wear this glamorous bombé ring, featuring the alluring lapis lazuli! The mask of Tutankhamun is inlaid with lapis lazuli, Cleopatra sworn by it as her favorite eyeshadow pigment, and Dutch art Master Vermeer also used this gem in order to create his captivating painting Girl with a Pearl. When Michelangelo demanded to use Lapis for the Sistine chapel, the stone was ground into an iridescent powder for his use, later coined 'ultramarine', and this became the most expensive of all the Renaissance colors. Due to its rich, sky-blue appearance, lapis has been long known as the stone of the gods, a gift from heaven.
Crafted in 14 karat yellow gold, this vintage bombé ring centers on a fine Old Mine-cut diamond, encircled by 6 star-set lapis lazuli stones, sitting over a high-polished dome. The Old Mine-cut diamond weighs .20 carats and it is graded G-H color and a clean VS1 clarity.
