South Sea pearls, known for their large size and incomparable lustre, are among the rarest and most sought after pearls in the world. They take years to cultivate, six times longer than Akoya pearls, and grow to be much larger on average. Their lustre is superior to other types of pearls due to their much thicker nacre. Each South Sea pearl in these stunning diamond-strewn earrings measures about 12 millimeters. The elegant display of fine diamonds, all graded near colorless G-H color grade and VS clarity grade total a carat weight of about 1.25 and are all set in 18k white gold. This gorgeous pair of pearl drop earrings was made sometime in the 1980s or 90s. Each measures about 1 3/8 inches long and 3/8 inch at their widest.
