Taille d'Épargne and Pearl Slide Chain c1870
In the Victorian era, women wore long watch chains like this around their neck with a pocket watch attached to the end and tucked in their hip pocket. Sometimes they would use the same chain to hold a muff, a lorgnette, a wax seal stamp, keys, or decorative fobs! It was multi-purpose back then and today its sixty inches of chain makes for so many different looks! Simply wear it doubled up and show off the gorgeous slide, decorated with black taille d'épargne enameling and three natural seed pearls, layer it and hang a charm from the hooked end, or even wrap it around to wear as a multi-layered bracelet! This exceptional piece is fashioned in heavy 14k yellow gold. The dependable woven round foxtail chain is as beautiful as it is strong. It measures over 60 inches long in total chain length and 30 inches doubled up. The slide measures 5/8 inch square.
