Victorian Coral Cameo Necklace with Greek Gods
Zeus, God of the Gods in Greek mythology, is exquisitely carved in bright coral at the center of this spectacular, rare Victorian necklace. He wears a laurel on his crown to symbolize his supreme divinity, a victor among the gods, as his bust rises from a magnificent filigree frame. Four additional cameos flank Zeus, depicting other Olympian gods, namely Hermes and Hera. As detailed as the ancient sculptures that inspired these cameos, their busts are three dimensional– all but their very backsides are brilliantly depicted!
The delicately sculpted cannetille frames are made of rich 18k yellow gold, with dynamic texture that beautifully highlights their magnificent details. Crafted many moons ago during the Victorian era, this coral cameo necklace remains a marvel, treasured for its rich symbolism and ancient allure!
