Victorian Foxtail Slide Chain c1860
A silky foxtail chain is fashioned with a screw-hook and slide as a lady's watch chain from the 1860s or 70s. It was meant to be worn long around the neck with the slide creating a 'Y' shape and the swivel hook attached to a pocket watch or chatelaine, tucked into a skirt pocket. Today, the hooked end and ample length allows for multiple ways to wear this stunning chain: doubled up as modeled, layered with charms on the hook, wrapped around multiple times as a choker, or even around the wrist as a bracelet! The 14k gold foxtail chain has a gorgeous antique patina and a satiny feel, smooth with no kinks. The slide features a rose cut diamond on one side and an enameled ivy leaf on the other, symbolizing fortitude. It smoothly glides up and down the doubled chain and stays put where desired with the help of its cork interior. The chain is about 60 inches long total while the swivel hook adds another 1 inch. The slide has a 1/2 inch diameter.
